These employees had lost their jobs following the Supreme Court’s April verdict that annulled around 25,000 appointments, branding the process “vitiated by manipulation and fraud”

While the state government introduced the scheme—providing monthly allowances of ₹25,000 for Group C and ₹20,000 for Group D staff on “humanitarian grounds” until pending review petitions are resolved —Justice Amrita Sinha halted its rollout. The court emphasized that disbursing these funds from the public exchequer could undermine judicial authority, questioning why the government was offering such relief to individuals “sitting at home,” while candidates who were waitlisted continue to be unemployed
