A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against Maharashtra’s Water Resources Minister, Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, and 53 others in connection with an alleged loan waiver fraud amounting to approximately ₹8.86 crore. The case was registered on April 28 at the Loni-Rahata Police Station in Ahilyanagar district, following a court directive .

The complaint, lodged by farmer-member Balasaheb Kerunath Vikhe, alleges that loans were fraudulently secured between 2004 and 2006 using forged documents in the names of members of the Padmashri Vikhe Patil Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana, a cooperative sugar mill associated with Vikhe Patil. The funds were reportedly misappropriated under a government loan waiver scheme intended for farmers .

The FIR includes charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 420 (cheating), 415 (cheating), 464 (making false document), and 465 (punishment for forgery), among others .​

As of now, Minister Vikhe Patil has not publicly commented on the matter.
