Tahawwur Rana July 9 custody hearing.

A Delhi court has extended the judicial custody of Tahawwur Hussain Rana, an accused in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, until July 9, 2025. The decision was made by Special Judge Chander Jit Singh after Rana was presented via video conference following the expiration of his previous custody term. Rana, a 64-year-old Canadian businessman of Pakistani origin, is alleged to have collaborated with David Coleman Headley in planning the attacks that resulted in 166 fatalities. He was extradited from the United States to India in April 2025 after the U.S. Supreme Court dismissed his appeal against extradition.

During the proceedings, Rana’s legal counsel raised concerns about his health, prompting the court to request a detailed medical report from Tihar Jail authorities by June 9. Additionally, the court is set to consider Rana’s application to communicate with his family members on the same date.
