On April 21, 2025, the Madras High Court lifted its previous order that had attached the late actor Sivaji Ganesan’s residence, ‘Annai Illam’, in Chennai’s T. Nagar. This decision brings relief to the actor’s family amid a financial dispute involving his grandson, Dushyanth Ramkumar.​

The dispute originated from a ₹3.74 crore loan taken in 2017 by Eshan Productions, managed by Dushyanth and his wife, to finance the film Jagajala Killadi. After defaulting on the loan, arbitration proceedings led to a decree in favor of Dhanabakkiam Enterprises, the lender. When repayment was not made, the firm sought to recover dues by attaching ‘Annai Illam’, alleging that Dushyanth’s father, Ramkumar, held a share in the property.

Actor Prabhu, Sivaji Ganesan’s younger son, contested the attachment, asserting sole ownership of the property. The court found merit in Prabhu’s claim, confirming that neither Ramkumar nor Dushyanth had any legal stake in ‘Annai Illam’. Consequently, the court ordered the removal of the attachment and directed the registration department to update property records accordingly.

While this ruling resolves the property dispute, the financial disagreement between Dushyanth and Dhanabakkiam Enterprises remains ongoing.
