Samajwadi Party eviction case.

The Samajwadi Party has approached the Allahabad High Court, contesting the Nagar Palika Parishad, Pilibhit‘s move to evict the party from its district office in Pilibhit .

On June 27, SP filed an urgency application telling the bench that a committee formed by the local civic body could enforce the eviction within two days. Their advocate requested time till July 1 for the municipal side to get instructions—a deadline the court granted. The case is now set for hearing on July 1 . This legal push follows the Supreme Court’s dismissal of the party’s Special Leave Petition, which had sought relief from an Allahabad HC order barring the Pilibhit District President from filing further writs. While the SC dismissed the petition due to a nearly 998‑day delay, it clarified SP itself is free to directly approach the High Court . SP argues it has been legally in possession since 2005, paying rent regularly, and was never given a hearing before the November 2020 eviction order. They want the court to either execute the lease deed based on a 2005 possession letter or halt the eviction .
