Cloud-kitchen giant Rebel Foods is reportedly in talks to sell its roughly 57% stake in premium chocolate and dessert brand Smoor, citing underperformance in key markets like Mumbai. The move aims to help simplify its portfolio and sharpen its focus ahead of an anticipated IPO . As part of this strategy shift, Rebel Foods has also shut its Gurugram and Bengaluru offices, choosing instead to consolidate operations in Mumbai to improve decision-making speed . Despite mounting losses at Smoor—Rs 19 cr in FY24, up from Rs 17 cr in FY23—Rebel Foods claims it still supports the brand and has recently invested in a new manufacturing facility to spur long-term growth . Acquired in April 2022 for over $50 m, Smoor had targeted a 3× growth by FY23 and annual revenues of $100 m by 2026, yet it has underdelivered against expectations.
