RCB marketing head arrested.

In a tragic incident during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) IPL victory celebrations on June 4, 2025, a stampede outside M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru resulted in 11 fatalities and over 75 injuries. In response, authorities have arrested RCB’s Head of Marketing and Revenue, Nikhil Sosale, along with three executives from DNA Entertainment Networks, the event management firm involved in organizing the celebration. All four individuals have been remanded to 14 days of judicial custody as investigations continue into the mishandling of the event that led to the fatal crowd surge .

Sosale has challenged his arrest, claiming it was unlawful and politically motivated. He alleges that the arrest was executed based on oral instructions from Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah without any legal basis, violating his constitutional rights under Article 19, which guarantees certain freedoms including freedom of movement .

In the wake of the incident, Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) officials, Secretary A. Shankar and Treasurer E.S. Jairam, have resigned from their positions. Meanwhile, United Spirits, the parent company of the RCB franchise, has not issued any statement regarding the tragedy .
