Rana 26/11 Mumbai terror plot latest update.

Tahawwur Rana, a 64-year-old Canadian national of Pakistani origin and key accused in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, is being extradited to India after exhausting all legal options in the United States. A multi-agency team, including officials from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the National Security Guard (NSG), took custody of Rana in Los Angeles on Tuesday evening. They are transporting him to India aboard a special Indian Air Force aircraft, expected to land later today.

Upon arrival, Rana is likely to be detained at Tihar Jail in Delhi. The NIA, which has been coordinating with U.S. authorities to complete the necessary legal formalities, plans to seek his custodial interrogation to further investigate his role in the 2008 attacks.

Rana’s extradition follows the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent rejection of his plea requesting a stay on his extradition. The court’s order stated, “The application for stay addressed to the Chief Justice and referred to the Court is denied.”

In 2011, the NIA filed a chargesheet against Rana and eight others for their involvement in planning and executing the Mumbai attacks. His extradition is seen as a significant step in bringing the perpetrators of the 26/11 attacks to justice.
