QR code mandatory in real estate ads.

The Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) has issued a directive mandating that all real estate advertisements prominently display the project’s QR code and registration number. This requirement applies across various advertising mediums, including print, digital, social media, and on-site displays. The QR code must be clearly visible and placed alongside the MahaRERA registration number and website address. Additionally, the font size for these details should be equal to or larger than that used for project contact information, and the colors chosen must ensure maximum visibility .

Non-compliance with these guidelines will attract penalties ranging from ₹10,000 to ₹50,000 per violation. If a developer fails to rectify the issue within 10 days of being fined, further action may be taken under the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act .

This move aims to enhance transparency and empower homebuyers by providing easy access to comprehensive project information through QR codes. MahaRERA has previously taken action against developers for similar violations, imposing penalties totaling ₹88.90 lakh on 628 projects across Mumbai, Pune, and Nagpur regions .
