Police visit kamra’s residencs at Mahim, issue summons to audience at khar show.

Mumbai police have recently intensified their efforts in the case involving comedian Kunal Kamra’s controversial remarks about Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. On March 31, 2025, a team from Khar Police visited Kamra’s Mahim residence to serve a summons after he failed to appear for questioning. The notice was accepted by his father, as Kamra was not present at the time.

Earlier, on March 26, the Khar Police had issued a second summons to Kamra, who was reportedly in Puducherry at the time. His lawyer requested a one-week extension, citing death threats from Shiv Sena workers, but this request was denied.

The controversy began when Kamra, during a stand-up show at Habitat Studio in Khar, made remarks perceived as derogatory towards Shinde. This led to vandalism by Shiv Sena workers at the venue. Subsequently, multiple FIRs were filed against Kamra across various Maharashtra districts, later consolidated under the Khar police station.

In response to the police actions, Kamra criticized the efforts to serve summons at an address he hasn’t resided at for over a decade, suggesting it was a misuse of public resources. He has also maintained his stance, refusing to apologize for his comments, asserting his right to satirize political figures.

As of now, Kamra has secured interim anticipatory bail until April 7 from the Madras High Court, allowing him to remain outside Mumbai without facing immediate arrest.
