A builder in Nalasopara, identified as Jayprakash Chauhan, tragically ended his own life after being harassed by two police constables over a loan of ₹33 lakh. According to his suicide note and statements from his daughter, the constables—identified as Rajesh Mahajan and Shyam Shinde—had initially lent money for his stalled construction project but later allegedly pressured him to abandon it. They even reportedly planned to register several flat units in their own names. Facing threats of false charges, Chauhan was driven to despair. Upon registering the complaint, Achole police in Vasai-Nalasopara swiftly arrested both officers on July 2, 2025, under charges including abetment of suicide and criminal intimidation. The duo appeared in court on July 3, 2025, and were remanded for five days in police custody.
