In a shocking development, former Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) Om Prakash was found murdered at his Bengaluru residence on April 20, 2025. His wife, Pallavi, has been detained as the primary suspect in the case.
Om Prakash, aged 68, was discovered with multiple stab wounds on the ground floor of their three-storey home in HSR Layout. The police were alerted by Pallavi around 4:30 PM on Sunday, who informed them of her husband’s death. Upon arrival, officers found the couple’s daughter, Kriti, and Pallavi inside the house. According to police sources, the incident occurred following a heated argument between the couple. Pallavi allegedly threw chilli powder into Om Prakash’s face, blinding him temporarily. She then reportedly tied him up and fatally stabbed him multiple times. After the murder, Pallavi is said to have made a video call to a friend, stating, “I have killed the monster” . Some reports also mention that she attacked him with a glass bottle during the altercation .
The police are investigating potential motives, including a longstanding property dispute involving land in Dandeli, Karnataka. Additionally, Pallavi’s mental health, with reports suggesting she was previously diagnosed with schizophrenia, is being examined as a possible factor in the incident .
