Justice for 26/11? Tahawwur Rana Finally in Indian Custody.

Tahawwur Hussain Rana, a 64-year-old Pakistani-born Canadian businessman and accused conspirator in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, has been extradited from the United States to India. He arrived in New Delhi on April 10, 2025, and was immediately taken into custody by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Rana was produced before a city court and has been remanded to NIA custody for 18 days.

Rana’s extradition follows years of legal proceedings. He was previously convicted in the U.S. for providing material support to the Pakistani militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba, which orchestrated the Mumbai attacks that resulted in over 160 deaths. India formally sought his extradition in 2020, and after his appeals were rejected by the U.S. Supreme Court, the extradition was executed.

Upon his arrival in India, Rana was transported under heavy security and is expected to be held at Tihar Jail in Delhi during his NIA custody. Authorities plan to interrogate him to uncover further details about the planning and execution of the 26/11 attacks, as well as potential links to other conspirators.
