Judiciary on anti-national acts.

The Allahabad High Court has denied bail to a 62-year-old man, Ansar Ahmad Siddique, accused of sharing a pro‑Pakistan slogan (“Pakistan Zindabad”) and exhortations for jihad on Facebook, posted shortly after the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives. Justice Siddharth strongly criticized the increasing judicial tolerance toward “anti‑national bent of mind,” warning that such leniency is emboldening these acts. The bench observed that such behavior disrespects the Constitution, undermines the nation’s unity and sovereignty, and is unworthy of Article 21 protection. The court also invoked citizens’ fundamental duties under Article 51‑A—upholding sovereignty, unity, the national flag, and anthem—and directed the trial court to fast‑track proceedings.
