As of May 12, 2025, Operation Sindoor continues to unfold in Jammu and Kashmir, with significant developments in South Kashmir.
The State Investigation Agency (SIA) of Jammu and Kashmir, supported by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and local police, has conducted raids across multiple locations in South Kashmir, including Anantnag, Shopian, and Kulgam districts. These operations are part of ongoing investigations into terror funding and the spread of anti-India propaganda. The SIA has detained several individuals suspected of aiding terrorist activities and disseminating extremist content.
The recent surge in operations follows the deadly Pahalgam attack on April 22, 2025, where militants killed 26 tourists, primarily targeting non-Muslims. The Resistance Front (TRF), linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), initially claimed responsibility but later retracted.
In retaliation, India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting nine locations in Pakistan-administered Kashmir and Punjab, believed to be hubs for LeT and Jaish-e-Mohammed. The operation utilized advanced weaponry, including Rafale aircraft and BrahMos missiles, without breaching Pakistani airspace.
Tensions remain high, with ongoing military vigilance along the Line of Control (LoC) and active counter-terrorism operations within Jammu and Kashmir. Authorities continue to monitor and respond to developments as they arise.
