Illigal construction cant be tolerated high court tells UMC cops .

The Bombay High Court has recently ordered the immediate demolition of an illegal construction in Ulhasnagar, emphasizing that such unauthorized developments cannot be tolerated. The court criticized the Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation (UMC) and local police for their inaction, highlighting that a lack of strict deterrence could lead to anarchy.

This directive came during the hearing of a petition filed by Neetu Makhija, who alleged that Mahagauri Builders & Developers were carrying out illegal construction on a plot adjacent to hers, causing structural damage to her property. The division bench of Justices Ajay Gadkari and Kamal Khata ordered the demolition of the unauthorized structure and called for stringent measures to prevent such violations in the future.

The court also urged the government to legislate and formulate policies addressing the broader issue of illegal constructions, noting that unchecked violations could render planned development a distant dream.

This ruling underscores the judiciary’s firm stance against unauthorized constructions and the importance of strict enforcement by municipal authorities and law enforcement agencies to maintain orderly urban development.
