HPNLU SHIMLA:INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ENVIRONMENTALLAW & SUSTAINBILITY.

Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla, through its Centre for Environment and Disaster Management (CEDM), has been actively organizing international conferences focusing on environmental law and sustainability.

In 2023, HPNLU hosted a Two-Day International Conference on “Environmental Rule of Law and Justice,” aiming to deepen the understanding of environmental policies and the role of legal frameworks in addressing global environmental challenges. The conference invited academicians, professionals, and environmental officials worldwide to contribute research papers and case studies, with selected papers featured in the HPNLU Journal of Environment and Disaster Management (JEDM).

In 2024, HPNLU organized an international conference titled “Advancing Environmental Laws for Sustainable Development.” This event aimed to foster critical dialogue on utilizing environmental laws to navigate contemporary challenges and promote sustainable development. The conference welcomed contributions from a diverse group, including academicians, students, research scholars, legal professionals, policymakers, and industry experts.

Additionally, in April 2024, the CEDM at HPNLU commemorated Earth Day by organizing an intra-university debate competition on “Plastic Recycling and Unveiling the Shades of Green.” This event aligned with the global Earth Day theme “Planets v. Plastics” and provided a platform for students to engage in discussions about sustainability and environmental responsibility.

These initiatives underscore HPNLU’s commitment to advancing environmental law education and fostering discussions on sustainability and disaster management.
