“H-West Roads: BMC Gets 7-Day Report Deadline”

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has been directed to complete all road concretisation work in Mumbai by May 31, 2025. This directive aims to ensure that roads are motorable before the onset of the monsoon season.

In the H-West ward, which includes areas like Bandra, Khar, and Santacruz West, extensive road excavation has led to significant utility damage, causing inconvenience to residents. Over 120 citizens from 18 different groups expressed their concerns during an Advanced Locality Management (ALM) meeting.

To address these issues, Mumbai’s guardian minister and MLA, Ashish Shelar, chaired the ALM meeting where residents’ concerns were raised. He emphasized that all projects should be completed by May 31 and stated that no new road works would be undertaken by municipal corporations after this deadline.

Additionally, the BMC has been instructed to provide documents related to road work cost escalations and advance mobility funds given to contractors. This follows concerns raised by Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray regarding irregularities in Mumbai’s road works.

These measures aim to expedite the completion of road works and ensure accountability in the process.
