On October 13, 2023, the Assam Special Task Force (STF) conducted a significant operation in Guwahati, leading to the seizure of counterfeit Indian currency notes totaling Rs 30 lakh. The raid took place at a rented residence in Dakhingaon, Saukuchi Road, under the jurisdiction of Hatigaon Police Station. Based on specific intelligence regarding the circulation of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN), the STF apprehended five individuals during the operation.
Arrested Individuals
The arrested individuals were:
- Nizam Ali (50)
- Hafizur Rahman (36)
- Abdul Rajak (46)
- Munindra Hazarika (44)
- Atikur Rahman (38)
According to reports, Nizam Ali and Hafizur Rahman are residents of North Lakhimpur’s Bihpuria, Abdul Rajak and Munindra Hazarika hail from North Lakhimpur’s Narayanpur, and Atikur Rahman is a resident of Guwahati’s Hatigaon.
