COURT REJECTS MLA’S APPEAL AGAINST MAINTENANCE TO WIFE.

A Mumbai sessions court recently dismissed an appeal filed by former Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Dhananjay Munde against an interim order directing him to pay monthly maintenance of ₹2 lakh to a woman claiming to be his wife and their daughter.

In February, the Bandra magistrate’s court had ordered Munde to pay ₹1.25 lakh per month to the woman and ₹75,000 per month to their daughter as interim maintenance, observing prima facie evidence of domestic violence.

Munde challenged this order, asserting that he was never married to the woman and that the relationship was consensual. He argued that the magistrate’s court had acted arbitrarily in granting interim maintenance.

However, the sessions court upheld the magistrate’s decision, dismissing Munde’s appeal.
