Dr. Rajendra Prasad National Law University (RPNLU), Prayagraj, hosted a national seminar on May 10, 2025, titled “Constitutional Governance: Contemporary Challenges.” The event brought together eminent legal scholars to critically examine the evolving dynamics of India’s constitutional democracy.
Institutional Integrity and Accountability: Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Usha Tandon emphasized the pervasive issue of corruption within institutions, which erodes public trust and undermines the rule of law. She also highlighted the subtle or overt battles for supremacy among different branches of government that can disrupt the intended checks and balances, threatening the very foundation of constitutionalism.
Philosophical Foundations: Chief Guest Prof. V. C. Vivekanandan, Vice-Chancellor of HNLU Raipur, drew from thinkers like Montesquieu, Antonio Gramsci, Hiroshi Nishihara, and the Bhagavad Gita to trace the evolution of the idea of separation of powers. He asserted that the Constitution is India’s only shared “religion,” underscoring its role in unifying a diverse society.
