As of May 22, 2025, there are no reports of a co-worker being booked for sexually harassing a 19-year-old in India. However, there have been several recent cases of sexual harassment involving young women in various parts of India.
In Thane district, Maharashtra, three individuals were booked for allegedly sexually harassing a 19-year-old woman. The incident occurred when the accused visited her home and one allegedly held her from behind, while another touched her inappropriately and verbally abused her. An FIR was registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, but no arrests have been made yet.
In Indore, Madhya Pradesh, a 22-year-old man was booked for harassing and assaulting a co-worker at a call center. The woman reported that the accused misbehaved with her and, when she confronted him, he attacked her and threatened her. A case was registered against him, and police are looking for the accused.
In a separate incident in Mumbai, a 20-year-old man was arrested, and his friend was booked for blackmailing and sexually harassing an 18-year-old woman in a garden. The accused allegedly secretly recorded a video of the woman and used it to force her into sexual acts, threatening to make the video viral if she refused. The woman reported the matter to the police, leading to the arrest.
Additionally, in Akola district, Maharashtra, school office-bearers were booked after a teacher alleged sexual harassment and extortion of her salary. The police filed a case against four individuals under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, though no arrests have been made yet.
These cases highlight the ongoing issue of workplace and institutional sexual harassment in India, underscoring the need for stringent enforcement of laws and support systems for victims.
