The petitioner, who reportedly suffers from a disability, had contested the civil imprisonment, suggesting that alternative measures like property attachment should have been considered. However, the High Court rejected this argument, noting that the petitioner’s counsel failed to provide specific details about any attachable property, particularly in Ahmedabad. Justice JL Odedra emphasized that the absence of such information left the courts with no viable alternative to civil imprisonment as a means of enforcing compliance with the status quo order.
