Experts highlight AI’s role in boosting precision, efficiency, and human judgement in critical sectors

Mumbai, August 13, 2025 –Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming industries. It augments human intelligence, improves decision-making, and enables faster, more accurate judgments. From healthcare to manufacturing, experts say AI is integrated not to replace humans but to amplify their abilities. It streamlines processes and reduces operational risks.
Sankaran Nethralaya’s head of excellence, Sriram Natarajan, noted that AI’s speed and accuracy in medical imaging help radiologists detect anomalies more effectively than manual reviews alone. For example, AI tools in ophthalmology can identify retinal diseases with high precision, allowing specialists to prioritize critical cases. According to him, this approach not only increases diagnostic accuracy but also reduces turnaround times for patients.
Geetha Manjunath, head of global R&D at Niramai Health Analytix, explained that AI-powered medical imaging can spot anomalies invisible to the human eye, offering vital support in early cancer detection. Machines trained with vast datasets provide a reliable second opinion for doctors, thereby improving patient outcomes. However, she cautioned that AI should always work alongside expert medical judgment, not replace it.
In manufacturing, GNDV Subba Rao, global head of operations at ABB Global Industries Services, emphasized AI’s value in predictive maintenance. By analyzing sensor data from motors and machinery, AI can forecast failures before they occur, preventing costly downtime. He noted that while machines are predictable, the challenge lies in interpreting the data for proactive solutions. Digital models and simulations powered by AI are now helping operators achieve greater consistency and reliability.
Uday Prabhu, vice president of innovation management at Bosch Global Software Technologies, described the use of “digital twins” in industrial environments. These AI-driven virtual replicas of physical machines use sensor inputs to predict how equipment will behave, flag anomalies, and recommend preventive measures. This technology reduces maintenance costs, minimizes operational disruptions, and enhances safety in plants, airports, and ports. According to Prabhu, such AI augmentation tools are becoming essential in modern industry.
Industry leaders agree that AI is no longer an optional investment but a strategic imperative. Rather than displacing human workers, AI systems are enabling professionals to make better-informed decisions faster. The integration of AI across sectors reflects a broader trend toward intelligent automation, where human creativity is paired with machine precision for optimal results.
