On June 5, 2025, at Cuttack railway station in Odisha, tragedy was narrowly avoided when GRP constable Tulu Behera sprang into action. A 44-year-old passenger, Mohammed Mujahir, had attempted to board the moving Kanyakumari–Dibrugarh Express and slipped, his body perilously teetering over the gap between the train and the platform. Behera first grabbed Mujahir’s bag, then his arms, pulling him back to safety just in time. The dramatic rescue was captured on CCTV and has gone viral. Mujahir later thanked Behera, who the GRP Superintendent praised for his “exceptional courage and quick thinking”—a commendation award is now in the works. Authorities used the moment to once again urge passengers to avoid boarding or alighting from moving trains.

A heartfelt reminder that even a moment’s hesitation can be life‑threatening—and that quick reflexes can change everything.
