Mumbai Congress city unit chief MP Varsha Gaikwad has called for an immediate probe into how a 4,497 sq m government parcel (CTS No. 207) in Andheri—valued at approximately Rs 1,200 crore—received two simultaneous approvals for redevelopment: one under the SRA (Slum Rehabilitation Authority) and another under the Aashray (BMC scheme)  .

She has demanded a halt to all construction on the site near Juhu Lane–Bafiwala Road, claiming these dual approvals violate civic policy, legal norms, and public trust  .. The land originally hosted BMC sanitation workers’ quarters from 1965; an SRA proposal was filed in 2008–11, yet no progress followed. Then in 2021, the BMC signed an Aashray agreement with Transcon Sheth Creators and disbursed Rs 10 crore—again without any development happening on the ground  .

Former corporators Mehr Haider and Ashraf Azmi have raised .concerns. Azmi questioned why the BMC released funds despite no visible work and why the original SRA NOC wasn’t revoked when the Aashray scheme was approved  .

Gaikwad stated that the Mumbai Congress will expose one BMC corruption case every week—and this dual-approval matter tops today’s list.
