Lawyer reprimanded VC hearing.

On June 30, 2025, a bench led by Justice Girish Kathpalia sounded a sharp warning after a female lawyer joined a bail hearing through video conferencing while standing in a park in Agra. The court emphasized that although hybrid court facilities—which were expanded during the COVID‑19 pandemic—are intended to be used from a proper office to save lawyers from traveling across Delhi’s court complexes, that does not mean anyone can appear from a park.

The judge noted that this issue isn’t new—similar reminders were issued in February—but “certain sections of the Bar” still fail to respect courtroom decorum . Though the lawyer’s appearance was not marked, the court proceeded with the bail matter to avoid disadvantaging the litigant. It also directed the Delhi Police to file a status report and issued notice in Suraj Das’s bail plea under Sections 498A, 304B, and 34 IPC .

Crucially, the court has again instructed the Delhi High Court Bar Association and all district bar associations to sensitize members on proper VC conduct .
