On May 31, 2025, a courier named Mohammad Ramees Idavlath was abducted and robbed of ₹32 lakh while attempting to deposit cash at an ATM in Juinagar, Navi Mumbai. A suspect posing as a Mumbai police officer confronted Idavlath, questioning the legitimacy of the large sum of money and insisting he accompany them. Subsequently, a group of six individuals forced him into an SUV, assaulted him, stole the cash, and abandoned him on Palm Beach Road before fleeing. Navi Mumbai’s Sanpada police have since arrested eight individuals from Bengaluru connected to the case. Authorities have recovered ₹30.48 lakh, the mobile phones used, and the SUV involved in the crime. The accused are currently in police custody until June 7 .

This incident highlights the risks faced by traditional cash couriers, known as angadias, who often operate without formal security measures. To mitigate such risks, it’s advisable to consider enhanced security solutions.
