On April 28, 2025, the Thane Crime Branch’s Unit 4 conducted a raid on the Peninsula Bar in Ulhasnagar-4, acting on a tip-off about illegal activities. The raid uncovered that the establishment was operating beyond permissible hours and that dancers were allegedly engaging in obscene behavior. A total of 37 individuals were apprehended, including 24 dancers, six staff members, and seven customers. Among the customers was a ward officer from the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) and two contractors .
Approximately ₹20,000 in cash was recovered during the operation. Following a six-hour panchnama, all detainees were handed over to the Hill Line Police Station. They were subsequently released after being issued notices, as the offenses were categorized as bailable. Notably, the ward officer and the two contractors reportedly requested leniency during the process.
This incident has raised concerns about the enforcement of regulations governing dance bars in Ulhasnagar, particularly regarding establishments operating beyond legal hours. Questions have also been directed at the vigilance of the Hill Line Police, under whose jurisdiction the bar was functioning.
