Marathi television actor Sagar Karande, known for his roles in shows like Chala Hawa Yeu Dya and Fu Bai Fu, has fallen victim to a cyber fraud, losing approximately ₹61.83 lakh in a part-time job scam. The scam involved promises of payment for tasks like liking Instagram videos, followed by demands for larger investments under the guise of higher returns. When Karande attempted to withdraw his earnings, he was asked to pay additional amounts citing credit score issues and tax deductions. Realizing he had been duped, he filed a complaint with the cyber police. Subsequently, the cyber police arrested 26-year-old Akshay Kumar Kumaragopalan from Bhiwandi, Thane, who was found to be actively involved in laundering cyber fraud funds using crypto wallets and foreign exchanges.
