A recent case in Maharashtra has brought to light a disturbing incident of child trafficking. A couple from Thane district allegedly sold their 5-day-old son to a childless couple for ₹1.10 lakh. The transaction was facilitated by two mediators and circumvented the legal adoption process. The Anti-Human Trafficking Squad (AHTS) arrested all six individuals involved, including the biological parents, the purchasing couple, and the mediators. The infant has been placed in a local orphanage for care and protection.
