However, in December 2023, the Karnataka Assembly passed the Karnataka Prohibition of Violence Against Advocates Bill, 2023, aimed at safeguarding lawyers from violence and harassment. This legislation was introduced in response to several incidents, including the murder of advocate Irannagouda Patil in Kalaburagi in December 2023 .

The Bar Council of India has also expressed concerns over the safety of advocates. In April 2023, following an incident in Delhi where a suspended lawyer fired at a woman in a court, the Council urged the Centre to frame effective laws for the protection of advocates and their families .

While there is no specific news about a recent attack on a senior advocate in Bengaluru, the legal community continues to advocate for stronger protections to ensure the safety and security of lawyers across the country.​
