​On April 10, 2025, the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) proceeded with the demolition of unauthorized structures in Karanjade, Panvel, despite objections from local residents and warnings from MLA Prashant Thakur. The operation, overseen by CIDCO’s Controller of Unauthorised Construction (CUC) department, aimed to clear land for infrastructure projects, including railway and channel developments. CIDCO officials stated that all legal protocols were followed during the clearance operations, which took place on Tuesday and Wednesday, and were conducted under substantial police presence due to strong resistance from inhabitants.
