High court notice to state on PLL over citys carrying.

The Bombay High Court has issued notices to the Maharashtra government, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB), and the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) in response to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) advocating for sustainable, carrying-capacity-based development in Mumbai. The PIL emphasizes the necessity of conducting a comprehensive survey to assess Mumbai’s population carrying capacity, aiming to ensure that urban development aligns with the city’s environmental and infrastructural limits.
