The Bombay High Court has temporarily stayed an order from the Maharashtra State Human Rights Commission (MSHRC) that directed the Mumbai police department to pay ₹10 lakh in compensation to a jeweller who was allegedly extorted by three police officers. The state government challenged the MSHRC’s order, leading to this interim relief. The court has scheduled further hearings on the matter for June 2025.
