19 YEARS OLD MAN ARRESTED IN AIRLINE TICKET FRAUD CASE .

​A 19-year-old man, identified as Vimal Garia (also known as Vicky Garia), was arrested by Mumbai police for allegedly hacking into the online systems of a private travel company and fraudulently booking airline tickets worth Rs 4 lakh. Garia, a resident of Bageshwar in Uttarakhand, was apprehended following a joint operation between the Azad Maidan police and local authorities in Bageshwar.

In a related case, Mumbai police arrested a 19-year-old hacker from Uttarakhand who breached government websites, including the Maharashtra State Innovation Society (MSIL), and booked 17 flight tickets valued at Rs 2.9 lakh. Of these, 14 passengers had already traveled before the fraud was detected on December 19, 2024. The remaining three tickets were canceled by MSIL after the fraud was uncovered. The hacker, a school dropout, received training through Telegram and was compensated in cryptocurrency. Bengaluru police intend to seek his custody following the conclusion of Mumbai’s proceedings.

These arrests highlight the increasing challenges posed by cybercriminals exploiting digital platforms for fraudulent activities.
